Summa What? Cume Who?

For almost five years Scott and I have been living in good ole' Provo, Utah -- in "Happy Valley." This is the place where we began our life together. Just after three and a half years of marriage I walked into our bedroom and woke Scott up at 6am with a positive pregnancy test. The first words out of his mouth were "our lives have changed forever". Well that was just over a year ago. Now we have a beautiful, sweet and fun-loving daughter,Shelby Lynne. She definately changed our lives forever but in the in the most wonderful way.

On April 24th, 2008, our lives took another turn...

WARNING** BRAG MOMENT COMING

My husband, William Scott Wells, graduated SUMMA CUME LAUDE(top1%) from Brigham Young University!!!
I usually am not one to brag, but I just wanted to say how proud I am of you Scott for sacrificing your time and working so hard to not just get your degree, but finish with a 4.0 GPA. He is the most determined, hardworking man I know and never even complained about all he had to do to graduate with his degree in Linguistics and Korean.

WAY TO GO SCOOTER!
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!

Also thanks to all our family for their love and support and for traveling here to celebrate with us!

A few highlights

So I'm still a little behind on bloggin' but its been a crazy month with Scott's graduation and our trip to Seattle, WA and Vancouver,BC,Canada. Those pics will be coming soon, but in the meantime enjoy a review of what we were up to before the crazyness began :)

3.26.08 Shelby's 1st TRIP TO THE ZOO
Here we are at the Hogle Zoo in SLC right before Shelby turned 4 months old. My sister Sarah has season passes because her kids love animals so much and let us tag along on her guest pass. It was supposed to be nearly 75 degrees that day, but of course with Utah's crazy Spring weather it was cold and windy. Shelby was bundled up most of the time and probably was more amused by the tiger ornament in her stroller than the actual animals. Even so, we all still had fun.
4.16.08 Shelby's Day at the Museum
Here we are at the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum on BYU's campus. It was great to get out of the house and hang out with our good friends from our ward. Here is a pic of us in front of Shasta the Liger...and you thought they were fictional animals from Napoleon Dynamite!
Erin and I have been friends since our ward campout where we both found out we were due only 1 week apart, myself on Dec. 9th and Erin on Dec. 15th. Of course our little babes had different plans and Shelby came 1 week early and Forest came 4 days late.

Shelby was a ball full of energy after her day at the museum...

more of Shelby playing with daddy!

Shelby winding down in her swing after a long day of fun. (Thanks Heidi for letting us borrow it!)

For My Mother

Mothers and Daughters
Author Unknown

We're daughters and mothers

Not so long ago.

We give and take

And take and give

Along time's endless row.

Love is passed

And love received

To be passed on again:

A precious heirloom

Twice, twice blessed,

A spiritual cardigan.

I'll put it on
And treasure it,

The me I have received,

And when the roles

Reverse again,
I'll have what I most need.
So may our love

Go on and on,

A hundred thousand years;

Mothers and daughters,

Daughters and mothers,

Through joys and other tears.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MOM!

I'll always be your baby--I LOVE YOU!

Catching up...well sort of

So about a month ago I told Scott that I was going to take over this blog for several reasons. For one,we finally got a laptop so I didn't have the excuse anymore that I couldn't get on the computer for fear it would wake Shelby up(she's a light sleeper). Secondly, I am trying to pick up a new hobby(obviously, I'm not doing so good on this one but I've managed to take up reading, kind of :) However as I have been typing this, I just realized that the main reason I wanted to do this was because I am a control freak and somewhat of a perfectionist. I know what you're thinking..."Lindsay, a control freak?....rrrright".

OK, so maybe you aren't thinking that exactly. Maybe some of you already know this about me, but if you don't, ask anybody who has worked with me. Usually anytime I'm given something to do or even if I ask someone what I should do, in the end I tweak the ideas I'm given to fit MY plan or completely ignore the advice and just do what I want. This is all to true especially if you're name is Scott...my poor husband. He has gotten used to it though. He knows me all to well and has just given up trying to tell me what he thinks....actually let me rephrase that. He has given up telling me what he thinks only when I solicit his advice.

So back to my MAIN reason--I'm also a perfectionist. One might think this is something good to be sometimes, BUT I am an INDECISIVE perfectionist who is overly thorough--the worst kind! Being thorough can be a good quality to have at times, but not so much when you only have a half hour here or there. And after losing so many brain cells post pregnancy I've realized that it totally slows me down and leads to alot of unfinished projects. Hence the reason why this blog is already taking me 30 minutes to type this far(I've already tried to edit and re-edit what I've written already,I'm obessive I swear) and I haven't even gotten to the pics of Shelby, Scott's graduation or our trip to Vancouver.............SIGH.

Well now you've gotten a little sample of how my mind works...a bit scatter brained I know, but its me :) Good thing my husband loves me for it. I've heard that with every kid you lose even more brain cells which means I'll become even more scatter brained and since I was pretty much born this way....I'm totally screwed! Oh well...there is always cooking or scrabooking, right? Hahaha.....rrrrright. I'll stick to reading and maybe this for now :)

SO ANYWAYS...I'll get to the real reason you are on this page, not to read my rambling, but to see pics of my Sweet N Sassy Shelby. Here we go...

This is about 2 weeks ago. Shelby is in her first sun hat that I got basically for free...$1.79...jealous? Yeah buddy :)

Click on pics to get a closer look at those chubby cheekies.

Shelby sportin' her BYU gear that Uncle Casey gave her for Christmas. Shelby has another one exactly like it in blue from Aunt Missy too.

These are my favorite. They are over the last few months so in some she is younger than others. The one in the sink was taken like a week ago.

Shelby is never happier than when she is completely naked. She came out that way so I guess it makes sense :) Check out those rolls!!

Well I'm all blogged out for tonight. I'll post more next month or so-j/k

Hopefully sooner than later :)
